Flavor and quantity were good for breakfast. These bowls are mostly oats and fruit, with whatever you decide to add (I did almond milk) and I’m not used to the consistency. I am used to making my own overnight oats at home with a base of yogurt. Ended up getting a small salad which resulted in me wasting more time and money. So there I was, still hungry at my desk thinking what I could do. It can’t be just me! When I am at home it’s more bearable since I will have other stuff available but when you bring a meal to work, you plan around it being successful. I had to bring my own microwavable bowl as it seems the cups are not microwave-safe, a little hassle but not terrible. I was thinking I could make a batch of quinoa to heat up and add to the bowls which I think is great, but kind of defeats the purpose of the whole ready-to-go cup. It was actually delicious but not filling enough, unfortunately. It looked like a really small quantity so I added spinach, pumpkin seeds and hemp seeds. The first bowl I tried I heated in a pan at home. I am also including real images of what I got. I’ll break down my experience by type of cup because they each have their own pros and cons. It even tells you which cups are better for workout recovery, stress-relief, etc. Everything from ingredient explanation to a description of what it tastes like. Selections were good and Daily Harvest does a really good job of providing information about what you are about to get. I got a good starter deal, ended up being about $5 per cup, for 9 cups. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a good base for your meal, already prepped? She would make the harvest bowl meal at home, adding her own toppings and it made me reconsider. I had decided that it was not for me until I saw a food blogger, who is known for making her own recipes and doing lots of home cooking, try it and promote it with her own twist. Slowly but surely, I kept being targeted through multiple channels, you know how fun that can be. I am as healthy as can be, and now can pinpoint the start of all of this to eating the DH crumbles and flatbread.I probably first heard of Daily Harvest over a year ago. I haven’t even had so much as a cold in seven years until this happened. They ran more and more blood tests and did a MRCP (special MRI test) on me, admitted me to the hospital, and scheduled me for surgery to get my gallbladder out. On the 5th day of symptoms, I went to the ER because jaundice had started. My doctor sent me for a CT scan the next day. My wife had to help me stand up and sit down while grimacing in extreme pain. My bilirubin was extremely elevated and my liver enzymes were UNREAL - in the 400, 500, and 700s! I had the worst bilateral low back pain of my entire life. They ruled out COVID, mono, UTI, kidney stones, the flu, and more. Over the next two days, my symptoms worsened and I went to the doctor to get tests done. Within an hour, I had that same all-over stomach pain, fever, and chills. I didn’t have any issues again until June 6 - the second time I ate the lentil + leek crumbles on another flatbread. The next morning, it was mostly resolved. I tried to just go to sleep for the night. Within an hour, I had a horrible all-over stomachache. I made the lentil + leek crumbles and ate them on top of a flatbread. "I HAD TO HAVE MY GALLBLADDER REMOVED!!! DH sent me a PR package with their crumbles a little over a month ago, but I didn’t first try them until May 29. All of the other blood work I had, CT scans, and ultrasounds came back okay." My levels were slowly coming down when I was in the hospital, but they could not figure out why they were up. "I was in the hospital for 5 days, had elevated liver enzymes, and am still not recovered. I was discharged with medication and did not figure it out until I got the generic email from Daily Harvest." The doctor also could not figure it out and thought I maybe had an ulcer. "I ate the crumbles Wednesday night and woke up Thursday morning with severe abdominal and upper back pain. After a week of severe fatigue, complete loss of appetite, nausea, and itchy skin, I was told my liver enzymes were extremely elevated, and sent to a gastro specialist who diagnosed me with acute hepatitis of an unknown origin." "Three weeks ago I went to the ER with extreme stomach pain and high fever after eating Daily Harvest crumbles. After combing through a Reddit thread about the crumbles, she realized that dozens of people were having scarily similar - and in some cases, even more severe - experiences as her after eating them. The TikTok wraps up with her saying she received an email from Daily Harvest's PR department, which advised her to throw away the leek crumbles, due to reports of customers falling ill after ingesting them.
